2010 Turner County Fair

Great Plains Tractor Puller's General Rules

1. Drawbar must be rigid and equipped with a clevis or 3 inch hoop, 1 inch thick.
(unless otherwise stated in individual class rules)

2. Minimum drawbar length is 18 inches from center of rear. Maximum height is 20
inches.

3.
All tractors will weigh on the portable scale at the staging area just prior to hookup to the skid. If the tractor leaves the staging area, it will be required to reweigh before hookup. Weigh and measure drawbar. Get on and off the scale in a timely manner.
Then clear the area so others can weigh and get to their classes.
NO repairs are to be made while on the scale.

4. No weights may be extended more than 11 feet forward from the rear axle.

5. No weights over the drawbar for a width of 12 inches, ALL the way up center of tractor. No interference with the chain and hook.

6. All weights and equipment must be secure.
Any loss of weights, equipment, or parts, from the time the tractor/pickup is hooked to the sled and the chain is tight, will result in a disqualification for that particular hook.

7. Driver is to be seated at all times.

8. Driver must be 18 years of age or have written parental consent.

9. Tractor must be operated in a safe manner at all times.

10. All pulls start with a tight hitch and no jerking permitted.

11. Two attempts will be allowed and 75 feet is considered a pull.

12. If there is call for a repull in a class, due to track conditions or skid malfunctions, the entire class will repull. Any other discrepancies will be determined by the rules committee.

13. Drawing of numbers for position in each class will be done at time of signup. DEADLINE for signup is ONE HALF HOUR PRIOR to start time of pull.
PENALTIES will be applied to anyone registering after the cut off time.

14. First place position does not have option for repull.

15. Tie would be indicated by laser measurement to exact 100
th of an inch. Repull, if necessary, would be determined by rules committee.

16. No one is allowed on the track except officials and contestants.

17. No alcohol on the track or in pit area.

18.
Not responsible for accidents or breakdowns.

19. IF a tractor/pickup has a breakdown during their hook to the sled and BEFORE
reaching the 75 ft mark or it’s second attempt, repairs may be made as long as done
so prior to the end of that particular class, and MUST be done so in the STAGING
AREA and a rules committee member present.

20. ALL Classes:
a) The class that is pulling should be on deck and in line up.
b) The tractor/pickup/driver that is to be pulling will have 3 (three) minutes after
the sled is pulled back and in position, to enter the track, and be hooked up to
sled.
c) Pullers
must pull in the position drawn.
d) There is to be
no repairing of vehicles on the track, this is to be done in the
staging area, and if repairs are completed, the puller may pull as long as this
is done so prior to the end of that particular class.

21. Protests must be made to judge/flagger before tractor is unhooked and before leaving the track. Protester will put up a cash amount of $100. Protester must be a
puller in the same class. The judge, protester, and the protestee will stop at the check point. An agreement form will be signed for the protest. A neutral party will be selected to check the tractor. The tractor will be kept at a neutral location and will not be allowed to pull until checked. Location will be determined by the rules committee. IF the tractor is found to be illegal according to the rules, the protestee pays the mechanic and shop bill. IF the tractor is found legal, the protester will pay the mechanic and shop bill. THIS protest rule will be followed UNLESS otherwise stated in the individual rules of the classes of the Great Plains Tractor Pullers, Inc.

22. All ATV’s and transport vehicles should be operated safely and at a slow rate of speed. No more than one to two passengers at a time allowed on these vehicles. If this rule is abused, future use of these vehicles may be banned for use at tractor pulls.

23. NO TRACK TRACTORS OR FRONT WHEEL ASSIST ALLOWED.

24. Rules Committee decisions will be regarded as FINAL.

25. In reference to rain delays during an event. After 1 hour, a vote will be taken to determine if event will continue or be cancelled.

OTHER DISQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Any portion of the tractor touching ground on or going beyond the sidelines of
the track, from the time tractor/pickup is hooked to sled and the chain is tight, will
will be disqualified for the particular hook.

2. Disqualification for 1 (one) year and 10 (ten) days for illegal use of fuels, turbos,
injection pumps, cubic inch, or other equipment; or as specified in individual
class rules.

All Tractors and Pickups will be required to be certified.

OPEN FARM CLASS 2010 RULES

7500 # OPEN FARM            9500 # OPEN FARM

  1. 3000 RPM limit. Any tractor at any time, may be checked with RPM gun, against throttle stop at the pump. Disqualification if 3001 and over in RPMs for the event.

2. 466 Cubic inch limit. Tractors with larger than 466 must have been factory equipped cubes with stock transmission and rear end.

3. Stock appearing fuel pumps
- - No “P” pumps
- - 13 mm head Model 100 on the IH
- - Stock JD inline pumps (10 mm plungers)
- - Roosa Master 450 head
- - No switching of plungers or cams on any pumps
- - No Case cams in inline pumps unless came factory with one in.
- - Inline pumps on IH 10 mm plungers

4. OEM intake and exhaust manifolds allowed, no after market, no machining of any parts allowed.

5. No add on inner coolers.

6. No rain caps or curved pipes allowed.

7. One STOCK out of the box 3 LM 466 Schwitzer turbo allowed, no other turbo.
Turbos MUST be CERTIFIED and SEALED.


8. Must have original rockshaft housing in place.
EXCEPTION: 6700 # class not required to have rockshaft housing: 6700 #

may also pull 7500 # class without rock shaft housing. That is ONLY allowed

if pulling in 6700 # class, otherwise rock shaft housing is required.


9. No water or alcohol injection allowed. Diesel fuel only.

10. Tire size limit 20.8 X 38 and 18.4 X 42 or metric equivalent (528 and 467). NO cut, NO alterations, NO sharpening, NO spinning, NO grinding, and NO touching up of tires in any way.

11. Wheelie bars are mandatory and must be able to support the weight of the tractor when loaded to the heaviest class that particular tractor competes in. Bars are to be a minimum of 32 inches back from the center of rear axle and a maximum of 10 inches off the ground. Each bar is to have a pad of a minimum of 25 square inches.

12. Mechanical air shut off – that can be controlled from sled will be required.


13. Side deflection shields for engines are mandatory. Must be made of metal no thinner than 0.05 inch thickness.

14. Wide fronts – MANDATORY. IF wide front bolster is determined by rules committee as being mechanically unsafe to pull for competition, the tractor will not be allowed to pull.

15. $400 claim on turbo protest.
$100 protest fee on injection pump.
$100 protest fee on cubic inches.

16. First time cheating, out for three (3) events. Second time cheating, out for one year/365 days. This includes any of the following: illegal turbo, injection pump, cubic inch, or fuel.

17. Tractors/Nonmembers of Great Plains Tractor Pullers, will be allowed to compete in two (2) events or four (4) hooks maximum, after that, must be a member and tractor must be certified.

18. Optional: Two 5/16 inch bolts in a crisscross pattern may be installed in the exhaust pipe to prevent turbo parts from flying out.

19. Optional: May have deadman’s throttle.

20. The Open Farm rules will remain the same for 2009,2010, 2011. With the exception to add or change safety rules.

SUPER FARM CLASS 2010 RULES

A)
Engine
1. Engine must be a manufacturer designed block or the factory replica block.
2. 3/8 inch diameter cross bolts are required in the exhaust.
3. No engine larger than 640 cubic inches.
4. The maximum size diesel fuel injection is “P” series pump.
5. Water injection system must use water with lube only, no alcohol.
6. No inner coolers


B)
Turbo
1. Only one Turbo allowed. 3 X 3 Turbo
2. The compressor inlet measurement is to be measured at the face of the wheel, a

maximum of 3.0 inches. Tips of wheel must protrude into 3 inch opening at least 1/8

inch.
3. The exhaust outlet measurement is to be measured at the face of the wheel a

maximum of 3.0 inches.
4. Tips of the wheel must protrude into 3 inch opening at least 1/8 inch.

C)
General Tractor Rules
1. Must have fenders or shield between driver and rear tires.
2. Must have wheelie bars capable of supporting weight of tractor.
3. Tractor must operate with hood and grill. Must have wide front end.
4. Length of tractor cannot exceed thirteen feet from center of rear axle to front of
weights. Wheel base 114 inches or stock location.
5. Tire size limited to 24.5 X 32. Tires may be cut or non-cut.
6. Each driver must have a solid drawbar with 3 inch horizontal hole.
7. All safety equipment must be in place.
8. Engine side shields, scatter blanket, air and fuel shutoff, and steel flywheel are
required.
9. Throttle must return to idle position when hand is released.

Fuel
1. Diesel Fuel only

E)
General
1. Any protester will accompany the protestee with the tech official to the pulling
tractor being protested. Protest to judge must be made before tractor is unhooked.
2. There will be Turbo and water checks done throughout the pulling year. Any rules
committee member can spot check at any time.

  1. If you feel a loss of control or find an object/spectator too close to the track an
    immediate repull is allowed. No changes to the tractor will be allowed.

  2. Weigh at all pulls.

5. Everyone must sign certification sheet that you have a SFI certified steel flywheel.

2010 Great Plains Pickup Rules

Rules effective until 2010

General Rules

1) All weight added must be fastened securely.

2) If there are any weights or equipment lost during the pull, you will be disqualified.

3) All vehicles will be in neutral or park while being hooked and unhooked, with the drivers’ hands in the air.

4) Two flagman preferred, one at 75' and second at the end of the track, they have the right to stop the pull for any reason.

5) The entire truck must remain in boundaries until the 300' marker or the puller will be disqualified.

6) No passengers will be allowed in the truck while pulling.

7) There will be no class jumping.

8) Classes may be combined providing participation.

9) No split rims allowed.

10) All trucks are subject to a random check at any time.

11) All trucks will start with a tight chain. NO jerking or shifting manual transmissions.

12) All safety equipment needs to be in good working condition.

13) No pulling from the fifth wheel hitch. (Must have clevis with stock hitch).

14) 2wd and 4wd may compete in same class depending on participation.

Rules and safety rules for all Modified classes.

1) # 2 Fire extinguisher minimum within drivers reach.

2) Master kill switch required 12" or greater above draw bar, no more than 6" off center.

3) White reverse light, lit when in reverse, 2" minimum diameter.

4) Must have working neutral safety switch.

5) SFI flywheel shield and blanket required on automatic transmissions. SFI steel bellhousing required for clutch system. All flywheels must be SFI approve, no gray iron.

6) Drive shaft loops mandatory, 2 per shaft minimum 6" from U joint covers. U joints will be enclosed 360 degrees, 5/16 minimum thickness or complete drive shaft enclosure. Planetary Must have full enclosed shafts, 5/16 steel or 3/8 aluminum.

7) Harmonic balancers to be SFI approved or enclosed with 360 degree shield 1/4 inch thickness to exceed the width of the balancer with 1"x 1/4" strap across the front center of the shield.

8) Must have engine shields from bottom of head down.

9) No engine driven fans.

10) Upright Headers or exhaust only.

11) Wheelie bars mandatory on 2wd 5"x 5" pad or 25 sq in surface area per pad. Capable of supporting weight of truck no closer than 2 inches behind rear tire with maximum height of 6 inches off the ground.

12) Rear bumper bars and front tow loop required.

13) Full firewall in cab,Front and rear glass required.

14) 2wd, no more than 15' from center of rear axel to front most part of truck including weights.

15) 4wd weights no farther than 60" from center of front axel. Hitch point to be no closer than 24" from axel center line. Max of 144" wheel base.

16) Hitch must be ridged in all directions with a 3 inch hole.

17) Maximum hitch height 2wd = 30 inch, 4wd = 27 inch.

18) Must have lug nut covers on rear axel.

19) Lift bodies must have operating doors or escape hatch.

20) Helmets, firesuits, gloves and seat belts required. 5 point harness is preferred.

Pro Modified 2 & 4 Wheel Drive

Wt classes 6200 Light, 6200 Heavy

1) One automotive style engine in stock location, Maxumum 540 cu inches.

2) Any Head except Hemi style head and no 4 valve heads.

3) Naturally aspirated only; any Intake,carbs or injection.No blowers or turbos.

4) Race fuel or alcohol allowed no nitro or nitrous.

5) Any Rear end.

6) Tires, Max size equivalent to 18.4 x 16.1 2wd

7) Tires, Max size equivalent to 34 x 15.5 x.15 for 4wd
